Nadia was on her way to the bus stop. She stopped at a stall and got herself a packet of biscuits. She reached the bus stop and sat on a bench. She hoped the bus could come early. She wanted to reach her tuition center as soon as possible to show her newly knitted scarf.

Then, Jimbau came along. He sat beside Nadia and started eating biscuits. He put his hand into a brown paper bag that was on the bench between him and Nadia.

Nadia looked at him furiously. How rude of him eating my biscuits without my permission she thought to herself. Nadia wanted to scold him but she stopped herself. She decided to eat the biscuits before Jimbau finished them all.

When Jimbau saw Nadia putting her hand into the bag to take a biscuit, he smiled and said, 'They're really tasty. Have another one.' This made Nadia angrier.

Then, Nadia's bus arrived. She boarded the bus. She put her bag on her lap and opened it. To her horror, she saw her bag of biscuits sitting neatly in her bag. Thank goodness, I didn't scold him!' she thought.

There was once a pet mongoose. It was owned by a young couple. It was very smart and faithful. One day, the wife went to the market near the town and left her baby in the care of the mongoose.

Not long after she left, a cobra entered the house. The mongoose saw it and had a fight with it. At last, the cobra was killed.

When the woman returned home, she saw the mongoose lying on the floor with its mouth covered with blood. She thought that the mongoose had killed her baby.
Without a second thought, she threw a pot of hot water at the mongoose and killed it.

When she went into her room, she saw a dead cobra near her baby. The woman cried when she realized that it was a big mistake killing the mongoose.

Subject: Mama's Birthday
Dear Sister,
How are you getting on at the hostel? Have you made many new friends? We miss you so much. Mama and Papa always talk about you.

Next Sunday is Mama's 45th birthday. Wei Min suggests that we get her a shawl but I think she has many shawis. I suggest we cook her a special dinner. We should also do all the house chores for her on her birthday. What is your opinion?

Mama told me to tell you to study hard but not to work too late into the night. She says you need to have enough sleep so that you can pay attention when your teacher is teaching.

I can't wait to see you next Friday night. We will wait for you at the bus station.
